This week in Nursery we have been continuing to work on the children identifying and writing their own names.

We have also been enjoying listening to traditional stories read by the adults or on the promethean board.  Some children have been using story cards to retell the story and sequence the story correctly.

We have also begun talking about up-and-coming Halloween.  Please have a look at our planning wall and floorbook to see what the children have been learning

Happy Half Term

This week at Ladywell Nursery we have been out and about in the local environment.  The children are noticing and commenting on the changes that are taking place in the world around us.  We also went looking for some environmental print.  The children were very good at spotting letters and numbers in the world around us.   We had great fun at the park where lots of children challenged themselves on the climbing equipment, demonstrating fantastic gross motor skills

In the Nursery, we have set up a sandwich station and the children are making their own sandwiches for lunch.

Autumn has arrived

We have began to notice changes in the world around us.   We have been on a few autumn walks in the community. We have collected, counted and sorted leaves and other autumn materials.  We have been talking about the changes in the weather and what the season is called.

The children have continued to maintain an interest in wild animals so we have been doing lots of activities surrounding this.

Showing our technology skills, navigating through games, and demonstrating our ability to match and sort.

We have been working hard on matching and sorting during our skill sessions.

Good teamwork and creativity in the garden.

Its September!

This week in Nursery we have continued to learn more about animals in the world around us.

During skill sessions, the children have been developing mathematical skills, particularly their ability to match and sort.  Some children have been discussing patterns they have spotted in the wider world and we plan to explore this further in the coming weeks.

In the garden we found brambles we picked some and thoroughly enjoyed mashing them up to make our own ink for mark-making.

We have also been exploring different textures in the art area.  Developing our vocabulary

Please look at our “wow wall” in the corner on the left as you leave the Nursery playroom.  We have a silver tree and we would be delighted if you would add any wow moments you have shared with your child.  No matter how small.  We want to celebrate all the wins!

!

Have a lovely weekend!

Baby Play

The children have continued to enjoy baby play in the Nursery.  There has been lots of role play, creating stories and sharing and cooperating with each other.  The children have a good understanding of the tasks required to look after babies.

Some children made Father’s Day cards this week.   We would like to wish everyone a happy Father’s Day!

We harvested some of our potatoes and we plan to make some potato salad next week.
