Happy World Book Day!
Today we have Miss Richmond from Broxburn Academy who is reading one of her favourite stories, Hugless Douglas.
As part of our Book Week Scotland celebrations we held a door decorating competition for the classes. The classroom doors look wonderful and there were so many different approaches to the designs.
The winners were Primary 3 for their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory design, Primary 5 inspired by Wonder and Primary 6 based off Stormbreaker. These three classes get to pick some new books to add to their class library.
Are you looking for a new book to read? Have a listen to this review to see if this book might be of interest.
Today we have another extract from a fantastic story read by one of our dads. This is Dinosaurs love underpants.
A few parents have very kindly agreed to share their favourite books with us. Today we have The Gruffalo’s Child by Julia Donaldson.
Today is the start of Book Week Scotland. We have lots of fun events planned in school and plenty to share on our new reading blog too.
If you would like to share any book recommendations then let your teacher know and we would love to share them with the rest of the school.
P2 were lucky enough to win one of the Gifford Baillie Big Book give away during the Edinburgh Book Festival. They watched the author’s live by Sally Gardner about The Tindims of Rubbish Island where they learned all about the family and how they built their home.
We were very excited when our books arrived. There were copies of Sally Gardner’s book and a selection of other books which are going to be added to the school library for everyone to enjoy.
P7 and P7/6 have been reading Murder on the Safari Star by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgeman.
They have been keeping notes about the events and characters as well as making predictions on what they think is going to happen next.
Only time will tell if they have been spotted all the clues and guessed correctly.
In June 2020 we got the fabulous news that we had been awarded our Core Reading Accreditation from the Scottish Book Trust. We had worked towards our accreditation all year so it was very welcome news for staff and pupils.
Our award arrived in September and is now proudly displayed in out trophy cabinet. We are now starting work on our silver award.
