It has been wonderful to see how many people have been reading by torchlight during November. Below are just a few examples. A new reading challenge will be set very soon but there is still plenty of time to share photos or videos of you reading by torchlight with your teacher.

Charlie and the chocolate factory
We have another book excerpt today read by one of our amazing parents. This time it is from Roald Dahl’s wonderful book ‘Charlie and the Chocolate factory’.
We always enjoying hearing from family members sharing stories in English or indeed in your home language so if you would like to share a story on our reading blog then please contact the school office and we will be in touch.
Reading challenge 1
Today we are launching our very first reading challenge. It is called Reading by Torchlight. We would like you to get a book and a torch and find somewhere to read. You might curl up on the couch, turn off the lights and read by torchlight there. You could build a den and read in there. You could even wrap up warm and find somewhere to sit outside and read using your torch. Whatever you choose take a photograph or even make a short video to share what you are reading and post it on Seesaw or Teams so your teacher can see. Some of the entries will be shared on the reading blog.
Peter Pan
We have another wonderful except to listen to today from another dad. Today it is from the fabulous classic story ‘Peter Pan’.

Edinburgh Book Festival
P2 were lucky enough to win one of the Gifford Baillie Big Book give away during the Edinburgh Book Festival. They watched the author’s live by Sally Gardner about The Tindims of Rubbish Island where they learned all about the family and how they built their home.
We were very excited when our books arrived. There were copies of Sally Gardner’s book and a selection of other books which are going to be added to the school library for everyone to enjoy.
P7 and 7/6 detectives
P7 and P7/6 have been reading Murder on the Safari Star by M.G. Leonard and Sam Sedgeman.
They have been keeping notes about the events and characters as well as making predictions on what they think is going to happen next.
Only time will tell if they have been spotted all the clues and guessed correctly.
