Primary 2 Update

Primary 2 had a very busy week. Here are some comments by children in the class about things they remember doing this week.

We had our first writing task this week. Nicole says, “We wrote what we would do if we were boss.”

Last week the children made stick puppets that look like themselves. “We played in the puppet theatre. My favourite part was when I got to play with my puppet” – Natalie

“I like when we get to play out in the area.” – Grace

“We were doing our class charter.” – Amber

“We had to make words with letters that were all muddled up.” – Calum

“I liked playing snakes and ladders in maths.” – Sebastian

In PE we did circuits with lots of stations around the hall. “I got to feel my pulse and balance on one leg.” – Reiley

“We took words that were muddled up and put them into proper sentences. I also liked doing construction during choosing time.” – Lily

Those were some of the highlights from this week. We’re looking forward to next week. Have a good weekend!

A busy week in p2/1

This week primary 2/1 have been busy writing about what they like to do in the playground, there were lots of super pieces of writing, well done to Alfie B who is this week’s Star Writer!

We enjoyed some outdoor learning this week, going on a colour hunt, look how well we got on.

We also had a visit from our P7 buddies, they helped us with our counting, reading and writing.

Lost Property

Just a little reminder to put names on all your child’s/children’s belongings. This will help keep a track of everything and should cut down on our lost property pile.

Welcome to Primary 1

Welcome to Kirkhill as our new Primary 1s. We have had a fantastic and busy first week.

We have all been exploring our new surroundings with many different activities, including creating a bear face, a tour of the school and doing a resources scavenger hunt in our classroom with our Primary 7 buddies.

PE will begin next week so if Primary 1 can bring in their outdoor and indoor PE kit if they haven’t already as soon as they can that would be great.

Miss Brown, Mrs Robertson and Ms Smith have been very impressed with everyone in P1 as they have settled into their class routines very well and quickly.

We are all looking forward to the year ahead of learning and fun.

Our first week in P3.

We have been settling back into school and really enjoying getting to know each other. During the week we have been making time capsules filled with information about us.  These will then be opened on the last day of P3 to see how much we have changed over the year.  We also completed a great piece of writing about our summer holidays and made birthday cards, one for each person in the class, ready for birthday celebrations.

Just to let you all know that we will be having P.E. on a Wednesday (outdoor –weather permitting) and a Friday (indoor) so please ensure kits are in school.

We are really looking forward to this year, learning together and making new friends.

Primary 2 update – First week of school

Welcome back to school! Primary 2 has got off to a great start! We’ve been busy getting to know our new classroom, new teacher, and all the children who will be in our class this year. We’ve had a great time doing PE outside and in the hall, playing some literacy and maths games, doing some painting and art, and even making stick puppets of ourselves to use in the class puppet theatre. Below are some pictures of the children enjoying some literacy activities and showing off their puppets:

It has been a pleasure to meet everyone and get to know them a bit this week. Have a lovely weekend!

Primary 5

This week was very interesting for all of us. We got to see our friends again and made some new ones. Our first week as Primary 5 children! A lot of this week was getting to know our new classmates and thinking about what we want to learn and thinking about our future.

One subject that most of the boys and girls enjoyed this was P.E with Mrs Shankland. Toby learned a new skill, to dive roll through a hoop. Joshua and Steven thought P.E was really fun. Steven even tried Rugby for the first time and he really enjoyed it. Ryan and Struan also enjoyed playing rugby. Allie loved doing gymnastics!

We started to learn French and learned how to say hi, have a good weekend and enjoy your meal in french. Next week we will be learning how to say our names to each other. Grace B, Kiera, Lewis, Deryn, Amy, Oliwia, Grace S, Callie, Nico, Zach, Holly and Joshua all enjoyed learning French especially this week.

We were working in teams quite a lot this week, played Buzz with the 2,3 and 5 time tables and recapped VCOP knowledge and strategies for Literacy.

We are all looking forward to see what we will be learning next week!
