Another fun, busy week in P5…

This week in P5 we have had fun learning lots of new things about The Romans, how to add and subtract using the chimney method and in P.E we learned new skills in basketball.

We learned about Queen Boudicca’s Rebellion in 60AD and used role play to imagine how different people from the Romans times felt and reacted to it. We also used our imagination to write a reply letter back to our Roman friend, using lots of great vocabulary and adjectives. We used our previous learning of the Roman numerals to help us solve problems in Maths. Lastly, we enjoyed learning about Roman art and making our own mosaic patterns and pictures.

In Maths we were adding and subtracting 2 and 3 digit numbers, rounding to the nearest 10 and 100 and played active games like Buzz, flash cards and mixed operation bingo. Everyone really enjoyed the online games, especially Sumdog. This week were focusing on the 6 times table and as part of our homework, we are practising the 6 and 7 times tables.

In Literacy, we really enjoyed working in our Reflective Reading groups to discuss and answer comprehension questions about the Auggie & Me: three wonder stories book trailer. The groups made excellent posters about friendship and kindness. So far we have collected 25 marbles for our class Wonder Kindness Jar J. We also enjoyed working in our active hoops and some favourite activities of the class were; silly sentences and blend dominoes.

We all have had a fantastic week of learning, working hard and having fun! We hope you all have a lovely, restful weekend.
