Week 4 – Primary 6/5

This week we enjoyed Maths Week Scotland. As part of this we had Maths with Munchies and some of our parents came to see our maths games we play in class. We had Mr Thomson who is a civil servant at the Scottish Government. He talked to us about how the Queensferry Crossing was built and how maths was used to help know how much it was going to cost. We learnt that it is as high as 48 double decker buses!

It was Roald Dahl day this week so we watched a live show all about him and all his books. We found out he was in the Air Force in the army in World War 2. We continued our persuasive writing and wrote about whether we think Fidget Spinner should be allowed in school. We have started planning to persuade people what the most important Right of the Child is. We are looking forward to writing it next week! We looked at an example of a good piece of persuasive writing to get some top tips!

Here are some of our highlights…

Dillon – I was proud to be Pupil of the Week for playing the estimation number line game.

Gemma – I enjoyed doing Maths with Munchies

Steven – I liked doing Meet the Teacher activities

Layla – I enjoyed Meet the Teacher because my mum enjoyed seeing all the activities

Emilie – My highlight this week was meeting Mr Thomson and hearing all about the Queensferry Crossing

I hope you all have a lovely September weekend. Apologise to any parents who came to Meet the Teacher yesterday and were unable to meet the teacher! I look forward meeting you all at some point in the near future!

Mrs Thomson 🙂
