Set sail for Struay

This week Primary 1 had a visit from a little highland cow called Hamish. He comes from the Isle of Struay where Katie Morag lives. We are going to send our class puppy to find out more about island life. We decided we wanted to find out about the food, animals and what it is like to live on an island.

We read about Katie Morag’s 2 grandmothers; Grannie Island and Grandma Mainland and looked at their differences. We wrote about our own grannies and what a talented bunch they are, with crochet, face painting and baking!

Wr also learned about Shrove Tuesday and why people eat pancakes. We even tasted some too with syrup, jam or lemon curd, yum!
