Mr Reid (HT Broxburn Academy) has asked the cluster if we could encourage our parents to vote for the Broxburn funding application for a Royal Bank of Scotland grant.  Below are some details of what this is for and a link to the facebook page for voting.  Any votes would be very gratefully received.

It’s ‘make your mind up’ time: the Royal Bank of Scotland’s Skills & Opportunities Fund public vote opens today

Unbelievably, it’s been almost a year since we launched our Skills & Opportunities Fund, part of our generations-old commitment to making a difference in our communities.

Word is spreading fast and an amazing 911 charities, community groups and state-funded schools and colleges have applied for grants in the latest round of funding, with 90 now shortlisted for a chance to receive funding.

Your job now is to decide between all these fantastic shortlisted projects and cast your vote for the one you think is most deserving in each region or country. This time round the vote is open for two weeks, so you have plenty of time to decide!

Every project is aimed at helping people in our most disadvantaged communities in the UK and Republic of Ireland, help themselves to succeed in life by learning new skills, finding work or starting a business.

What you need to do now…

All 90 shortlisted projects are profiled on skillsandopportunitiesfund.rbs.com by region or country, so make sure to learn more about the applicants in your local area and make your vote count.

Voting is simple, just go to Vote for your project; select a region or country and follow the instructions – you can vote once in each region or country.

Voting is open from midday on Friday 8 April until midday on Friday 22 April. The public vote will count as one vote, alongside those of each region or country’s judging panel, deciding which worthy causes will go on to receive funding of up to £35,000 when the winners are announced on 24 May.

If your project or a project you feel passionate about has made the shortlist, this is your chance to gather as much support as possible.

So don’t forget to…

  1. Vote for your project: you’ve got until midday on Friday 22 April.
  2. Share on social media: to encourage others to vote too. Follow us on Twitter @RBSbusiness #skillsandopportunities
  3. Keep your fingers crossed: results will be announced on 24 May.

Thanks again for your continuing supporting for the Royal Bank of Scotland Skills & Opportunities Fund and for making a difference in your local community. When we help others help themselves, we build stronger communities and we can all grow.
