Bubble-ology!

Primary 3 had great fun today making bubbles in the playground. We made cones from card and used these to blow really big bubbles! We found out that it is dry things that pop bubbles so if you want to hold a bubble in you hand, make sure it is wet.

If you would like to have a go at making your own bubbles at home follow this recipe.

To make 1 litre of bubble mix you need to mix together:

950ml water

30ml washing up liquid – this makes the water stretchy

20ml glycerine – this stops the bubbles drying out so they last longer (you can find it with the baking stuff in supermarkets)

To make your bubble cone:

Roll an A4 piece of card into a cone shape leaving a little hole at the end. Secure it with a piece of sellotape. At the thick end cut the cone so that it makes a complete circle shape.

Dip the think end of your cone cone into the bubble mix, point it downwards and blow into the thin end to make your bubble!

When your cone gets soggy just cut off the wet bit and keep going.

How big can your bubble get? Can you throw it into the air?
