Primary 1 have been busy this week.
Our main focus this week was blending our sounds together to read words. This was done using pictures and we had to listen to the sounds to write the words. Also breaking up words so we could sound out our words in our writing.
In our writing this week we went on a Spring walk. We used our senses to allow us to understand what Spring is. We wrote about what we can see in Spring (from walk or what we learnt happens in Spring. Some of the children wrote about the beautiful flowers that grow and the baby animals that are born.
This week in our Vibrant Vocabulary we used the stimulus The Skipping Rope Snake. The words we enjoyed learning this week were vice, coiled, tongue-tied, horrified and hither. We learnt these this week by playing musical chairs.
Our stimulus this week for many of our play activities was the fairy tale, Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We used a small world which meant we had a setting and puppets, so we could retell the story.
In PE, we were learning to work as a team through games.
Also, this week we participated in a karate taster session. We all really enjoyed this.
In Maths we are learning different strategies to add numbers together. This week we were looking at drawing pictures to help with adding numbers. We continued to look at direction.
We started to paint the castle in our fairyland classroom and the children were all involved in this.
We started our show and tell. The three children on the rota this week did a fantastic job.
