P7/6 Update

This week we have been busy in our learning after our snow days last week.

In Maths, we have continued our learning about fractions. We have been figuring out lots of fractions of amounts. Some of us have also been learning to simplify fractions to their simplest form. The Tetrahedrons were challenged with some holistic style questions about fractions of amounts – they did a super job even though it was quite tricky. Next stop – decimals!

In writing this week we had to produce an imaginative piece of writing about anything that we liked. We had to follow the success criteria and then give ourselves 2 stars and a wish at the end of our piece of writing. Mrs Weir then assessed our writing using the Criterion Scale. We are all pleased with our progress in writing.

On our belated World Book Day, we got a visit from the author Mike Nicholson who has written books such as Catscape and Grimm. We liked hearing about how he writes his stories and enjoyed listening about his favourite books. He encouraged us to plan our writing and ideas to make good stories. We will try this out next week. We then had a Book Character parade in the afternoon and a quiz to guess the teachers favourite book. We then did some shared writing/reading with our buddies in P1 & P2/1.

Have a lovely weekend 🙂
