P4/3 Update

This week in P4/3 we have been learning all about the Winter Olympics!  We have been learning about some famous Winter Olympians and we even wrote stories about some of them.  Here are some of our favourite Winter Olympians and why we like them.

“My favourite is Felix Loch because he is really good at luge.”  Lucas.

“I like Elise Christie because she is a fast ice skater.”  Adele.

“I like Shaun White because he does amazing tricks in half pipe.”  Campbell.

“I like Shaun White because his nickname is the Flying Tomato!”  Tait.

“I like Torvill and Dean because they are very good at figure skating.”  Tia

“I like Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot because they do really cool tricks, like when Bruno held up Aljona with one hand!”  Teigan.

We watched some medals ceremonies and we also looked at Olympic medals from the past, and we designed our own and made them from clay.  Here are the medals we have made, we are going to try to add ribbons to them once they are dry.

In maths we have been learning how to do written addition sums.  After working hard on our mental maths we have been learning “chimney sums” and have even started carrying!  We have also been working on our understanding of time, especially quarter to which can be tricky!

Next week is World Book Day on Thursday.  Remember you can dress up as your favourite character on Thursday!
