Numeracy

We have been working on our division skills in maths this week.  We know that an important part of being able to divide is knowing our table facts.  We are currently working through out tables, practising them to be able to recall facts quickly.  We are using a variety of strategies to work out division problems and we are becoming more confident in our work.

Literacy

We have been working on our close reading skills by linking this in with our context for learning – the 20th Century.  We read about the 100th anniversary of the Suffragette movement and analysed the text.

Health & Wellbeing

We finished off looking at dance during indoor P.E. with performances from each group on a creative dance.  We saw lots of interesting dance moves and some great teamwork.  We will be moving on to gymnastics from next week.  It is important that everyone has the correct kit and footwear to be able to participate fully.  We started looking at football skills in our outdoor P.E. slot.  We are practising dribbling, passing and shooting in preparation for our football tournament in April.

Context for Learning

This week we had a visit from Ms Eastwood from Broxburn Academy who taught us about Primary and Secondary sources.  Many of us worked very well in groups to identify and categorise sources and their usefulness. Some of us need to work on our listening skills when others are talking.
