This week we have completed lots of activities associated with our context for learning ‘A Moment in Time.’ First of all we learned that it was 100 years since women got the vote on Tuesday. We thought this was brilliant although we were disappointed that this only applied to married women over the age of 30. We learned about the Suffragettes and who they were and about Emmeline Pankhurst and Emily Davison. Why don’t you ask us who they are? This was the inspiration for our newspaper article writing this week.

We also learned about a famous artist called Andy Warhol who created a style called ‘Pop Art’ using the same image but different colours. We used lots of famous images – Mickey Mouse was a definite favourite!

In Maths, we have been learning about division using the bus stop method. We all now fully understand how to divide large numbers and this is easy if we know our times tables. Keep practising these at home.

P6s enjoyed their first Tobacco workshop in which they were discussing the different dangers of smoking on the body, on others and the environment. We look forward to part 2 next Thursday.

We also had a visit from the SSPCA and were reminded about what their role in society is and all about helping wild animals.

We hope you have a lovely long weekend.
