First week back – Primary 1

In Primary 1’s first week back and it has been busy.  We discussed everything we had been learning this week.

Jamie said “We have found out about our new topic.  It is Scotland and Katie Morag.”

Finley said “We are learning about Robert Burns too and learning Scottish poems for a school competition.”

Primary 1 are choosing 1 poem between 3.  The first judging is on Wednesday.  The choices are:

1.Willie Winkie

Wee Willie Winkie

Rins through the toun,

Up stairs and doun stairs

In his nicht-gown,

Tirling at the window,

Crying at the lock,

“Are the weans in their bed,

For it’s now ten o’clock?

 

2.Bowfin

I hid a bowfin puppy dug,

It piddlit on the mat.

An sae ma mither kicked it oot

An noo we hae a cat.

 

3.Humpty Dumpty

Humpty Dumpty sat on a waw.

Of course he should niver hae been there at aw!

If he’d heeded his mither, cam doon when she wanted,

He widnae hae gotten his heid sae sair dunted.

 

Larissa said “We read ‘Katie Morag and Tiresome Ted’.” Then Poppie said “We were writing and drawing pictures about this story.”

Also in writing we wrote about one thing we did over the Christmas holidays.  Some wrote about their Christmas dinner, some wrote about visiting family and some wrote about their presents.

Primary 1 also drew a portrait of Katie Morag.

Lucy H said “We started learning about money”.  Andrew said “The small brown coin is a 1 pence.”

Nicola said “We were learning to find space in PE.”  Also, Primary 1 were learning about how they can move their bodies in different ways.
