Happy New Year from P7

Primary 7 have been getting back into a routine after a very busy Term 2.

This week we have looked at our targets that we made for term 2 and decided if we have achieved them or not.  We have discussed SMART targets and have set new ones for Term 3.

In Maths we have started looking at Time.  We have recognised that this is a very important life skill that we all need.  Some of us have been looking at converting between 12 hour and 24 hour clock and we will be looking at reading timetables – very important for next year!  Some of us are learning to calculate distance, speed and time using the DST triangle.

In P.E. we have continued to practise our tennis skills during our outdoor sessions.  We are getting better at aiming our shots and we have tried not to hit the ball to hard.  Next week we are looking at creative dance during our indoor slots to go with our topic.

Our topic is A Moment in Time: looking at the 20th Century.  We started our topic by thinking about things that happened in the 20th Century and many of us were a bit confused as we didn’t realise that it began in 1900, thinking it was the 19th Century.  We were shocked at how old some things were!  We thought Lady and the Tramp came out in the 2000s! Not the 1950s! We are thankful for some of the major developments though – such as the PC and games consoles being invented and the World Wide Web!  We are looking forward to learning more about this time.

Our Home Learning this week has been to learn a Scots poem.  We are reciting these on Thursday.

REMINDER: Could all children have their indoor and outdoor P.E. kits back in school for next week.

Have a lovely weekend

Miss Sutherland and P7
