What a busy few weeks in P7/6 as last week we had lots of Book Week Scotland activities going on, Christmas Fayre activities and this week lots of learning has been taking place.
I was very impressed with how the class engaged in Book Week and how engaged they are with their personal reading. It is great to see! Our next class library visit will be on Wednesday 20th December – children are welcome to bring along their own library cards.
Well done Primary 7 on raising a fantastic amount of £470 towards our Enterprise fund. This will go towards their end of year trip to Blair Drummond Safari Park. Primary 6’s made £21 from their stall and have decided to have a picnic (once the weather improves!)
This week we have put in lots of final practise for our Puss In Boots performance. On Thursday we gave our first performance to an audience during our dress rehearsal to the whole school. Some of the class were very nervous but all of the children did a fabulous job. We have a few things to work on before our performances on Monday afternoon and Thursday evening. We are looking forward to seeing lots of parents/carers at our performances. Thank you for all of the effort in providing costumes etc.
In Maths, the Tetrahedrons group have been looking at how to interpret bank statements and solving calculations on statements. They have also looked at being able to use exchange rates to convert £ into different currencies. Well done. The Squares have been working on their calculator skills in being able to use the four operations to calculate totals. The Circles have been looking at adding amounts and finding change from different amounts.
During Literacy we have been looking at the reading skill of inference. We used the Pixar Short ‘For the Birds’ to help us look at things we knew were happening but the director did not state. This is a really tricky skills which we will need to keep working on.
Have a lovely weekend 🙂
