On Tuesday this week we visited Broxburn Library. We were spoken to by the librarian Dianne who told us about the library and how it is organised. We then had to complete a quiz about different authors and identify our favourite reading books. There was a large choice of books for us to choose from and we got to take books back to school with Mrs Weir’s card. We are going to visit the library every 4-5 weeks and it would be great if everyone could get their own card for future visits. Mrs Weir has downloaded some ebooks and audiobooks for us to use in class – we are all very excited about this!
As we reach the end of the Dynamic Earth context for learning the class wanted to learn about volcanoes. We started to make paper mache volcanoes which was very messy and then we pained these. Next week we will do some science experiments to see which volcano has the largest eruption.
We carried out some independent research during writing this week. We had to write a paragraph about 5 biomes and then create a poster which contained relevant facts, text and image. This is a big job and we will finish these next week.
In Maths, some of us learned about place value related to decimal places. We are now able to round to 1 and 2 decimal places. On Wednesday we had to create a poster which demonstrated our learning in Maths from the beginning of Term 1. These are fantastic ways to show our learning over the course of several weeks.
Have a nice weekend. 🙂
