Primary 1 update

Primary 1 have had a busy week doing loads of activities.

We have been concentrating on learning and forming our new sounds, t and n.  They have been doing really well with all the sounds and have now began to recognise the sounds in all areas of their day.  We have also been practising our names.

In numeracy we have been continuing to learn to understand the quantity of the number and how to write it.  This week we have been learning about 0-5 concentrating on understanding zero.  Also in maths, we have still been learning about shape but this week in real life context.

In our outdoor learning we were building dams from our visit last week from the Learning Zoo last week.  We all really enjoyed this.

Our topic has now changed to People who help us, including the Police, the fire services, doctors, nurses and many more.  This week we have been learning and discussing the Police.  They were learning about emergency services and who would help them in different circumstances.  Also, Primary 1 have decided to change their home corner into a police station which is very exciting for them.

This week also had our first Kirkhill Chatter and Primary 1 did very well.  This is when we all mix into our houses and are split into groups.  We were all celebrating about European Sports Day.  It involved us discussing what we think about PE.
