P7 Update – Week 5

This week was a short but busy week for Primary 7!

It was lovely to hear about the fun things Primary 7 got up to on the long weekend – sleepovers, holidays and fun with friends. After quickly settling back in to routine, we got creative this week making our Christmas Cards.  There were some very good designs and these were sent home on Friday.  If anyone wishes to order the cards or gift tags – can you please do so by this Friday 🙂

We finished up consolidating our learning about place value, rounding and estimation.  Many of us feel more confident in recognising and using numbers up to hundreds of millions and in using tenths, hundredths and thousandths – we are also less worried about decimals!  Some of us also investigated triangular, square and prime numbers.  We tried our first holistic question of the year too.  We had to use a variety of skills to work out a worded problem.  We had to be able to read and pick out the key words in the question and use multiplication, division and conversion of units to solve the problem.

We were very lucky to have Mr Stewart come visit and teach us some tennis skills.  Everyone enjoyed this and we hope to continue learning this sport as the term progresses.  It was great to see many children picking up the skills quickly and Ryan was our Pupil of the Week for using these skills to win the game.

A few reminders…

Next week we are marshalling the P6 Cross Country on Thursday morning. Please have appropriate footwear and a jacket (still school uniform please)

Christmas Card orders are due in Friday

P7 Transition Camp (deposit) due by Monday 2nd October

Miss Sutherland 🙂
