Primary 2 Update

It’s been a very busy week! In maths, we have continued to learn about telling the time, and we have continued to practise our adding and subtracting skills. In literacy, we wrote some instructions for how to grow cress seeds. This is a topic the children know a lot about, as we just finished our experiment to see what plants need to grow big and healthy. Each table group planted some cress seeds. One table gave the plant water, sunlight, soil, and warmth. The other tables each left out one of those things. So, one table gave the plant everything except sunlight, etc. The results were very interesting! Have a look at the photo below, and see if you can work out which plant got everything it needed. Which one was in the dark?

This week, we also had our trip to Tesco. The children were able to go “behind-the-scenes” at the store, including going into the big freezer. We discovered all about how food is made and where it comes from. The children were able to go into the bakery and see where the dough is mixed and the ovens are, then they made some bread of their own to take home. We also ate some new foods, including lots of exotic fruits and cheeses. We also touched and held some interesting sea creatures from the fish department, including mussels, squids, prawns, and a herring. It was a very good morning! Below is a small sample of pictures from the day.

Have a lovely weekend!
