Its been another busy week in P7/6

Literacy

We celebrated World Book Day on Thursday by dressing up as some of our favourite characters. It was great to see what everyone dressed up as. The Dahls, MacPhails and Morporgos are all completing Literacy Circles as part of their reading and are gaining confidence in discussing the books they are reading. As we had finished our topic on WW2 and our novel The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas; we watched the film version on Friday morning. We were very shocked at what happened at the end of the story.

Numeracy

In maths the Tetrahedrons have been working on algebra. We are finding this concept easy to pick up and are now substituting letters for numbers. The rest of the class have been working on fractions. We have been making equivalent fractions and simplifying them. We are more confident and matching equivalent fractions, decimals and percentages and are using our knowledge of tables to help find fractions of amounts.

Learning Across the Curriculum

We have starter learning about glaciation and the ice ages. We discussed how the world was created from both a scientific and religious view point. We will be looking at how the world has changed and how the world is now changing due to Global Warming and how this affects our glaciers. We are planning to attend Dynamic Earth on 23rd March to learn more about this. Please remember to bring back EE2s and £7 to cover the cost.

We have started preparing for our class assembly. We are in charge of fundraising for Comic Relief. We need to learn the words to the song Put a Nose on It. We hope to raise lots for Comic Relief and hope to see everyone on Friday 24th March. We will be sending out flyers and letters next week.

Have a great weekend!
