In Literacy, we reflected on our successful Fashion Show by writing a report on our experiences. We are trying to use the skills we have been learning in Grammar and Punctuation to help to make our writing more interesting for the reader.
We are continuing to practice our oral reading and comprehension skills weekly. We have to remember to read with expression, pause when we see certain punctuation and try to continue to sound out any unfamiliar words. As the author Dr. Seuss once said;
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
This ties in nicely with the school celebration of World Book Day on Thursday. Some of us dressed up as a character from literature and it was great to see the effort put into some of the costumes! We did some fun World Book Day learning activities to help spark our interest in reading. We listened to a Podcast of an extract from Sir Chris Hoy’s children’s novel ‘Flying Fergus: The Best Birthday Bike’ and answered some questions to show our ability to listen and understand a multimedia text. Some of us participated in a Book Scavenger hunt, where we looked for different characters in a range of books. Lastly, we had to select a character from a book and make up some interesting questions that we would like to ask them!
In Maths, we have been busy applying the skills we have learned by designing our own treasure maps on a grid. We had to remember to label the grid correctly and provide the grid references for the objects we drew. Here are some of our treasure maps below. See if you can spot the treasure!
We have finished reading ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’ so we are looking forward to comparing the film version to the text version! We have completed our comic books that show our favourite scene from the novel and we will upload photos of these in the next blog.
