Bridge Building & Billy Goats Gruff!

This week in science we continued our investigation into materials & their properties.  We did this by taking part in a team STEM challenge!

We re-read the story of the Billy Goats Gruff – but this time we read it in Scots.  We thought tottie wee Bairn, glaikit Bammy & no feart o’ onything Bawsy Billy Goat Gruff were very funny – especially when Bawsy dunted the bowfin troll on his bahookie!!

We talked about how scientists are good at sharing their ideas & listening to the ideas of others to help them.  We know that sometimes scientists’ investigations don’t go to plan first time, but that’s okay – scientists are good at persevering!

Our challenge was to build a bridge for the Billy Goats Gruff. Each group was given jelly babies, cocktail sticks and lolly sticks. It was trickier than it looked, but we persevered and tried different things. Some of our bridges looked great, what do you think?
