It’s been another busy week in P6. This week we started our new social studies topic, World War Two, in more depth. We’ve been learning about why the war started. We watched videos from the time period and listened to Neville Chamberlain’s speech declaring war. We also started reading the novel, Friend or Foe, by Michael Morpurgo, which is from the point of view of an evacuee. Next we are putting our note taking skills to the test (we have been working A LOT on this) and are working in pairs to create our own powerpoints, using notes we have taken during our research on a WWII leader.
In maths this week we have continued our work on multiplication tables. We had a carousel week, using co-operative board games, ipads and written work as different ways to learn and practise. We’ve all decided on our first target table to learn individually and have been pleased with our progress!
We’ve also been continuing to work on our audition pieces for Beauty and the Beast. Our audition song was sounding absolutely fantastic. Miss Docherty is going to get (even more) grey hairs, trying to decide who to cast in each part!
