Stop! Animation Time!

This week, we’re all agreed that the activity we’ve enjoyed most has been making our stop-motion animations!  We have worked collaboratively to produce these, and our team-work skills are really improving.  We decided on our theme, made a storyboard then designed our sets.  When we were ready to film we used an app called Lego Movie-Maker – it is brilliant!  Some of us are still making our movies, so we will continue this next week.  We will put these on the blog – however, we want to premiere them at our assembly so we’ll be keeping them secret till then!

In maths, we demonstrated our new improved addition skills in our assessment.  Well done, P5!  We have moved on to subtraction now and are really beginning to link our knowledge of place value to help us solve problems in the correct way.  Some of us have even made a start on the super tricky subtraction with exchange – another one parents may remember from school!

Our art was very successful this week!  We used a colour wash to produce a sunset scene for the background, then using collage techniques we added Uluru for the middle ground and shrubland silhouette for the foreground.  We used a fine black pen to add detail to the foreground, and you may even spot a couple of kangaroos!

We are all enjoying our new class novel – Really Weird Removals.com – which has some very interesting characters!  But who wouldn’t enjoy a book with chapters called things like ‘The Octopus in The Lunch Box’, ‘We Find a Sister – A Dead One’ and ‘Weird Things Happen When It’s Windy’.  There is a great website linked to the novel which is called www.reallyweirdremovals.com if you fancy finding out a bit more about the characters as well as some information on some of the mythical creatures we might meet.

Have a great weekend!
