Primary 6 Update

It’s the end of another busy week in Primary 6!  This week we had two interesting events: firstly, a visit from the PDSA.  Emma, a volunteer PDSA veterinary nurse, spoke to us about the work that the organisation does, and how we can help keep our pets safe and healthy.  Emma J especially enjoyed the presentation as she would like to work with animals when she’s older, and she was able to share her writing about her aspiration of working with the SSPCA with Nurse Emma.  She was very impressed!

On Wednesday afternoon we had an event we’d been looking forward to for quite awhile – the P6 Broxburn Schools Cross Country!  After pinning on our numbers and walking the course, we were off – first the boys and then the girls.  All the children from the class who took part tried their best, showed great perseverance, and were all good sports.  They were a credit to the school.  Special congratulations to go Eve and Lee J who were the first Kirkhill finishers for the girls and boys respectively.  Here’s a photo of us all after the race with the medals we won – definitely something to be proud of!

In other work this week, we have been learning more about earthquakes in our Natural Disasters topic.  We discussed how we could link other areas of our learning to our topic and how important this was.  Whilst watching a video and presentation, we took notes on different types of plate boundaries, and used our notes to help us organise our writing in a report.  It was a tricky task but there were some excellent pieces of writing!
