P6 Update

Even though it’s been a short week at school, we’ve still been very busy in P6!

In maths this week we assessed our learning in written addition, and were all thrilled with our progress – it’s great to see that hard work pays off.  Our next step is to improve our understanding of written subtraction, which we began on Thursday – it’s challenging but we’re getting there!

On Wednesday afternoon we had great fun learning more about the magnitudes of earthquakes and how a seismograph works.  We even tried to make our own – it wasn’t a complete success, but as all great inventors and engineers know; it usually takes more than one attempt to create a masterpiece!

On Thursday afternoon we went out to train for our Cross Country event, with Miss Dunn.  It won’t be long until the P6 competition when we’ll race against other children from across the Broxburn Cluster.  Maybe there’s a budding Mo Farah or Jo Pavey in our class?!

This morning we had a fantastic treat with a performance of a one-man Macbeth show.  It kept the whole class spellbound and it was so interesting to see how Shakespeare put his own twist on history!  We enjoyed joining in with the famous “Double, double, toil and trouble; fire burn and cauldron bubble!” speech.  It won’t be long before we can put some of our own performance skills into use with our show later this year!
