It’s been another busy week of learning in Primary 6. We’ve had a big focus on literacy with some fantastic work on VCOP openers which we’ve been applying to our writing. We’ve written some excellent diary entries from the point of view of August, the main character from our class novel, Wonder, and developed our comprehension skills, focusing on using part of the questions to formulate our answers.
We have been learning more about the structure of the Earth for our Natural Disasters theme, and this week we learned all about plate tectonics. We looked at the Earth’s crust and how it was divided, as well as starting to think about how earthquakes are caused by the movements of the plates. We’ve also been using non-fiction texts to improve our research skills and are creating our own independent posters on a natural disaster of our choice.
On Wednesday we had lots of parents in school for Meet the Teacher and we were able to show them around the class, as well as share some of the fantastic learning we’ve been doing with them.
