P6 Scottish Parliament Visit

What a fantastic day! I am incredibly proud of P6 as they represented our school extremely well on our trip today. Their behaviour was excellent and they shared their knowledge about the Scottish Parliament very well, too.

We enjoyed an interactive session, learning about the history of the parliament in Scotland. We were surprised by how recently in our history it was that ‘normal’ people were allowed to take part in voting. We’re not going to take it for granted!

We loved our tour of the parliament building and found out lots about its design. There are symbols of the saltire scattered throughout the building. Some of the roofs and staircases are made from concrete, to look like a castle and link the building to our history. We liked the leaf shaped features, too. There are even some mysteries in the building – as the architect died before the building was completed and never explained his thinking.

We grilled our MSPs during a Q&A session. Questions included:

If you couldn’t be in your party, which one would you join?

How can you get sacked from your job?

Have you ever been in trouble in parliament?

Keep up the good work, P6!
