As part of the current STEM topic, the P5s have entered a Scottish engineering Award Competion. For this, P5 had to think hard about problems that could be solved with a bit of imagination and engineering. They had to write a report on their invention – what it would solve, how it works, and draw a diagram of what it looks like.
These have now been entered to the competition – the winner will be made into a prototype! They all did really well coming up with some great solutions to a wide range of problems from helping the deaf, reducing waste in schools, and even helping me find my lost pencils!
Here is a small selection of the ideas produced-
A robot dog carrier – a robot to help the elderly carry their shopping – by Anya.
A school milk machine – it dispenses milk in reusable cartons that it cleans afterwards – By Dylan L.
A bird strike protector – for aeroplanes to stop bird strikes happening using fans and mesh – By Connor.
The Super directional hearing aid – a hearing aid that helps deaf/hard of hearing people hear in big crowds and noisy areas – by Murrin
The Pet handling care of machine – a machine that looks after your pet if you need to go out – by Eve.
Some were even turned into prototypes!
