Here is a poem by Matthew Fitt that pretty much sums up how most of us are feeling at the moment.\u00a0 You’ve probably already realised that it’s written in the Scots language.\u00a0 Can you work out what the following words mean: mawkit, eicht, fower<\/span> <\/em>?<\/p>\n

I want oot. It isnae fair.<\/span><\/strong>
\nStey in the hoose? I dinnae care.<\/span><\/strong>
\nMa hame\u2019s oot there<\/span><\/strong>
\nIn the fields, in the park<\/span><\/strong>
\nTrailin back mawkit lang efter dark,<\/span><\/strong>
\nNo stuck here forever daein stupit hame wark.<\/span><\/strong>
\nI\u2019m eicht, ma sister\u2019s fower.<\/span><\/strong>
\nWe\u2019ve nae fun, nae joy, nae richts, nae power.<\/span><\/strong>
