Egg Carton Crafts

Resources: Recycled egg cartons, paints, pen, glitter, glue, stickers

You could either create a fairy house, a bumble bee, toad stool.

Using a recycled egg carton, separate it out and turn each upside down.

Fairy house: You can decorate it anyway you wish! Think of what a fairy would like and leave it out in your garden and they may come along and stay! You could use lots of glitter for your magical fairy house..

Bee: Using yellow, paint the egg carton, adding black stripes and some googly eyes to create a bee character for your garden!

Toadstool: Painting the egg carton red, using white spots to create a toad stool in your garden!

Wild Flower and Leaf Picture

The next time you are out for a walk have a look around you at all the wild plants and flowers that are growing. 

Pick some without taking too many and when you get home create your own wild plant picture. 

Heads Gone Wild

Instructions

1. Draw or paint some faces onto your pot. Or glue a photo of you or your friends face onto the pot. Make sure your faces don’t have any hair on them.

2. Fill your pots with compost.

3. Put seeds in the compost

4. Water the seeds.

5. Make sure the soil stays wet, and watch as crazy green hair grows out of your head. When it is long enough try giving it a cut.

 

Write Your Name In The Salad

  1. Fill your seed container with compost.
  2. Lightly press down the compost so it’s firm in the tray
  3. Mark out your name in the compost by writing your name into it with a stick.
  4. Sow the rocket seeds along the letters of your name in the compost.
  5.  Sprinkle fine soil or compost over the seeds. Be gentle so you don’t move the seed.
  6.  Water your tray using a watering can.
  7. Put the seed tray on your window sill or outside in your garden. Clip your name as it grows and enjoy eating it.

Growing Carrot Tops

Watch the top of the carrots grow their leaves.

Unfortunately the rest of the carrot won’t grow.

What you need to do:-

 

  • Cut the top off a carrot you are going to use
  • Put a little water in a small dish/plate
  • Place the carrot cut side in the water
  • The carrot leaves should begin to sprout and grow
  • Remember to keep topping up the water

Float and Sink

With the weather being sunny why don’t you try this activity in your garden. Do you know what floats and sinks and why? Find items in the garden with an adult flowers, pinecones, sticks, stones, leaves. Put them in a bucket of water see what floats and what sinks.

Painting at Home

If you are out for a walk or out in the garden, have a look to see if you can find any stones, pebbles or rocks of any size that you can decorate! You could use paint, chalk or pens!
