On Tuesday this week, Primary 6\/5 enjoyed an amazing trip to the Museum of Rural Life near East Kilbride.<\/p>\n

We took part in a workshop where we learned about where different foods come from and then we deconstructed a number of meals to break down the ingredients and say where they originated from. We then constructed an ‘eco-friendly’ burger, using the least amount of air miles possible.<\/p>\n

After this, we rode in the tractor trailer up to the working farm, where we encountered farm horses, chickens, cattle and rare breed pigs. The stars of the show were most definitely the sweetest calves, who were so tame and friendly and didn’t mind being petted by all of us. The piglets were also very cute and seemed to be enjoying the pouring rain!<\/p>\n

After lunch, we looked around the exhibits in the museum, giving us a fascinating insight into the origins of farm machinery and farming methods in the past.<\/p>\n

We even had time for a quick play in the park before heading home. A really enjoyable trip and as usual, our pupils were a credit to us.<\/p>\n
