In our first self management skills hub the ‘Pet Care’ group were learning all about looking after a horse. They were visited by Cid the Shetland pony. The hub group started by discussing his anatomy and how each part of his body was used to communicate and how we take care of his needs. The children then looked at grooming him and tools for keeping him happy and healthy. We discussed his diet and looked at what food he eats in a day and how eat part of his diet supports his wellbeing. We discussed exercise and looked at tack used for riding and how it worked. Finally the children got to try leading him and using their body and voice to give him instructions.<\/p>\n
