I can say the sound to match the letter shape<\/p>\n<p>S.C. I can blend this sound with other sounds to read words<\/p>\n<p>S.C. I can write this sound<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-8865 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/wl\/public\/deansprimary\/uploads\/sites\/5505\/2020\/05\/31135003\/wh.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"249\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>wh<\/strong> is a loud red lip sound. <strong>wh<\/strong> words often sound like <strong>w<\/strong> words when they are at the beginning of a word. Try blending these sounds together to make <strong>wh<\/strong> words.<\/p>\n<p><strong>wh<\/strong> &#8211; ee &#8211; l\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <strong>wh<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; i &#8211; p\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong>wh<\/strong> &#8211; i &#8211; s &#8211; k\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 <strong>wh<\/strong> -i -s &#8211; p &#8211; e &#8211; r<\/p>\n<p>A number of words with the wh sound at the beginning are questioning words. Have a go at blending these sounds together to make words.<\/p>\n<p><strong>wh<\/strong> &#8211; a &#8211; t\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong> wh<\/strong>\u00a0 &#8211; i &#8211; ch\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong>wh<\/strong> &#8211; e &#8211; n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong>wh<\/strong> &#8211; e &#8211; r -e<\/p>\n<p>Can you create a sentence for each of the <strong>wh<\/strong> questioning words? For example- What is your favourite season of the year? (remember when you are asking a question you always need to end the sentence with a question mark)<\/p>\n<p>Now\u00a0 practice writing the <strong>wh<\/strong> sound in your jotter.
