Literacy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

Reading<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This week we learnt about how to write a quality descriptive character profile. After reading some of our class novel, \u2018George\u2019s Secret Key to the Universe\u2019, we chose one of the characters and created our own character profile.<\/p>\n

Writing<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

This week we had a visit from Miss Taylor and practised writing descriptive pieces about animals.<\/p>\n

We also discussed our baseline writing assessments at the start of the year and have decided that our 3 class targets are:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. use paragraphs to separate my ideas, events or facts<\/li>\n
  2. use capital letters, full stops, question marks and an exclamation mark in sentences<\/li>\n
  3. spell most common and tricky words correctly<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Talking and Listening<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    Mrs Wallace treated us to a philosophy session this week!<\/p>\n

    Numeracy<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    As part of our learning about the place value of numbers, we practised adding numbers to number lines.<\/p>\n

    In our problem solving session this week, we learnt how to complete a logic puzzle using various strategies to succeed.<\/p>\n

    Maths<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    We extended our knowledge of 2D shapes and their properties.<\/p>\n

    Hope – I learnt the phrase ‘ quadrilateral.’<\/p>\n

    Lily-Elen – I learnt about 2D shapes that I did not know before.<\/p>\n

    Using string and our teamwork skills we created different 2D shapes.<\/p>\n

    Health<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n

    We enjoyed playing on the trim track this week and getting some much-needed fresh air during P.E.<\/p>\n

    In order to improve our health and wellbeing we have continued to practise mindfulness techniques and yoga.<\/p>\n

    Art and Design – Rainbow Time<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

    Having coloured in a separate part of a large rainbow we then used our teamwork skills to put it together.<\/p>\n

    Art<\/strong><\/p>\n

    In addition we examined Van Gogh’s starry night painting and discussed his use of line.<\/p>\n

    Anna – I learnt how to colour in using line when drawing my own landscape.<\/p>\n

    Outdoor Learning<\/strong><\/p>\n

    We walked around down Deans South and learnt about leaves.<\/p>\n

    Bella – I found an acorn!<\/p>\n
