Health Week

The children engaged in a wide range of activities to develop physical and mental health and well being. Sport’s day was a roaring success with each House competing to win. The nursery sport’s days were a great display of sportsmanship ! Thank you to all who attended to cheer on and support their children.

Here are Primary 5 creating Healthy Pitta Pockets.

BLACKRIDGE – YOU ARE AMAZING!

A massive thank you to all the people who supported our Sports for Champions Sponsored Event. We raised an amazing

£1431.18 !

60% of this goes back to the school and 40% goes to support Liam Davie in his bid to attend the next Commonwealth Games.

Blackridge has shown that it is extremely generous and supportive, but above all a proper community with great team spirit.

Thank you again!

Sponsor Forms- Please Support Our Athlete Challenge!

Just a reminder that sponsor forms and money for our athlete challenge on Thursday 23rd June are due in by Wednesday 22nd June. The money will support school funds but also help fund a local athlete. Our  allocated athlete is Liam Davie- who is a Commonwealth Champion and it would be brilliant for Blackridge to be part of his future as a world class athlete. Here is is a bit of background information about him-liam

Liam Davie is widely recognised for his achievement in the 2014
commonwealth games in Glasgow earning silver for Team Scotland!. Liam is
cemented in Scottish history as winning their first ever Commonwealth
Games team gymnastics medal.

Liam 21, from Cambroe Lanarkshire started gymnastics when he was 10
years old at his local club which his older sister also attended. He
enjoyed going along after school and didn’t take it too seriously at
first, meeting up with his friends there and attempting back flips!

He kept at it and he first realised that he had progressed from having
fun with his friends to professional level in 2009 when he came 3rd on
high bar under 16s category at the British championships.

He started to take gymnastics more seriously and after a lot of hard
work training 4 nights a week for 4 hours a day, Liam went from strength
to strength and soon had a string of titles under his belt!

PLEASE NOTE-If your child raises between £5 and £15 they will be presented with a photo card of the athlete. If they are able to raise between £16 to £34, they will be presented with a poster of the athlete. If they raise £35 or more, they will be presented with an autographed instant photo of themselves alongside their GB athlete in a keepsake wallet.

We understand that not all families are able to raise money and therefore stickers are awarded to every child so that no one is left out.

An engraved trophy will be presented to the class that raises the most , so that everybody can work together as a team to win the trophy!

Thank you for your anticipated support in this event.
