Primary 2 News

We have been researching space. We made our own alien pictures and we gave them names. We are going to build our own house on the moon soon. We were speaking about our Alien powers.

Questions :

Which planet is third from the sun is ?

How many moons has each planet?

In art we were drawing the Solar System.

Some of us made a house for our Aliens

We were also talking about Joseph and his Colourful Coat. We were writing sentences about him and his story.

Poems have been sent home to learn for Burns Day, so Thursday will be our Tartan Day, when we recite our poems and wear tartan to celebrate.

We would like to make our Moon Houses and the children have been asked to look for junk/parts that they may need for their design to bring to school.

We have been playing Buzz in class to connect with counting in 2’s 5’s and 10’s.

Happy New Year from P2

Happy New Year from Mrs Quinn, I hope everyone had a lovely break and enjoyed time with friends and family.

In Primary 2 we have already started  looking at Space and Planets and checking the night and morning skies . We will also be doing a little mini topic looking at Scottish activities and language we can use at home and in and around the class room.

I have attached a Homework Sheet for the next fortnight if you need to speak to me about this let me know. On the sheet are things that are being followed in the class.

I think it is easy to understand and follow

HOMEWORK

Primary 2

Primary 2’s had a very good assembly on Friday ( sorry forgot to take photographs). All the children performed very well. Lauren introduced our little programme, Jack and Lochlan spoke about the stars. Ollie introduced the songs Catch A Falling Star and The Owl. Mattie introduced our Nocturnal Animals and all managed to speak on their separate animals which they had researched for homework. Well done to all the children!

Also thanks to all parents and carers who came to the Christmas Fayre and bought the little oranges and cloves which the children had made. Traditional crafts are nice to have at Christmas time.

Primary 2

In number this week we were rounding up and estimating.

We were very excited because some of us got parts in the Nativity. We are trying to learn the lines with help from home.

We are also trying to learn our little research on nocturnal animals and be confident enough to say it at assembly.

Darren came to speak about the seasons and we enjoyed his story about picking apples and what the apple looked like inside, we looked at the leaves changing colour outside and them beginning to fall of the trees.

Primary 2

In maths and number we did some Thinking of a Number sheet which was quite difficult and did work on the Ipads. For homewotk this week we had to find out information about one Nocturnal Animal. We also were practising for our Nativity, songs and scripts.

The mushrooms have grown and one is massive!

Today we were at assembly celebrating Children In Need.

The Yellow table were the table of the week, well done!

We were also working hard at our Spelling Test today.

P2 News

On Thursday P2 really enjoyed the bake off challenge.  We all decorated cupcakes, the children said they tasted really ‘delicious’. We learned about words that begin with qu this week. We also learned about our Emotions and the emotion was Fear.

We are still working with ideas around  the Rainbow Fish. We collected some apples for our interest table.

All the children enjoyed meeting Sean Batty and our cakes were much appreciated and Adam’s cake was judged as best in class and he was awarded a certificate and a baking prize. All bakers were awarded certificates for their efforts which were wonderful.

We are trying to be kind to all our class and others in the school, hopefully we will be able to do this.

Settling in with P2

Primary 2 have been settling into their new class and finding out how to be friends with their class mates through the Rainbow Fish Story.

We have had to get used to being a bit more independent and becoming more organised which is quite a big step for lots of us.

We have started the daily run and we are busy practising yoga in our PE sessions.

We plan to watch some mushrooms grow and plant bulbs for Christmas!

Working with their friends.

Connor’s mum pays a visit

The PM nursery children were very pleased to have a visit from  Connor’s mum, who brought microscopes, mini beasts from the sandpit and shells to see up close. She also managed to produce some glittery designs for us to admire.

Thank you : )

French and a Visit to the Chickens

We were very pleased to have Madame Kasparek in the PM nursery for a short time last Thursday. She chatted in French and encouraged the children to join in. Madame Kasparek was very impressed by all the children.

The nursery children also visited the chickens in Primary 1. They were very excited and thought they were wonderful and ‘cute’.

Alexa spotted Paw Patrol game :).

Nursery Health Week

The nursery have been really busy with activities and trips this week.

Our trip to the zoo was very exciting and interesting as we went on a Bug Count to see how many bugs we could find.

We also saw the lions and bears as well and lots more.I think everybody had a good time and thanks to the ladies who helped, hope they enjoyed their day too.

Here are some photographs from all our happenings this week. We have lots of photographs on the plasma screen in the cloakroom if you have the time to view.

The nursery also went to the Bellsquarry Park for fun on the swings.

Mrs Ahmad also came into the nursery to do some movement with the children. We all thought it was very good and enjoyed the final Health Week activity.
