Primary 7

What a term!! My goodness we are exhausted (well Miss Hood is anyway!).  We have been extremely busy this term in P7, from preparing for our Burns supper to performing at the Ocarina play along.  It has been a fun term and good preparation for next term which looks even busier!!

Things we are looking forward to are: Sky Academy, Cinderella and Rockerfella, Dalguise, transition days and writing our yearbook.

It won’t be long until we are preparing for our leavers’ assembly (get your tissues ready)!

We would like to wish everyone a lovely Easter holiday, filled with fun!

Primary 7- World Book Day

Good morning Primary 7!  Here are a few book related activities for you to try…

Scavenger Hunt

You will need lots of books for this activity! Find each of the items from the list below in the books you have.  Create a table to record the book you found the item in, the page number, and whether it was a picture or a word, or both.  How many can you find?

Item Book in which it was found Page number Word, picture or both?

Now, create your own book scavenger hunt for someone to complete when we are back at school.

Go to the link below and complete the World Book Day quiz:

You could also create your own quiz about your reading book.   Remember to prepare an answer sheet too!

Have fun!

V E Day Party

Sorry for the delay in this post! We recently enjoyed a VE Day party in class. We had lots of fun completing WW2 activities, these included making a model Anderson shelter. We also ate some ‘delicious’ mock banana sandwiches, as there were no bananas around during the war people boiled and mashed parsnips as an alternative. Some of us enjoyed the sandwiches much more than others!! We enjoyed dressing up and wearing the gas masks we made in class earlier that week.

WW2 Handling Session

WW2 Handling Session in primary 7 today. Maureen Liddell from the West Lothian Council Museums Service brought artefacts from WW2 for us to look at. Maureen is an expert and gave us lots of interesting information and answered our questions. We would like to say a big thank you to Maureen for coming in to school today.

Primary 7

Highlights in Primary 7 this week have been Futsal and meeting ‘Smokey Sue”!!

We really enjoy games week during our futsal sessions. Futsal is an excellent way of keeping fit and also working as part of a team.

During our tobacco education session this week we met ‘Smokey Sue’. She showed us what happens inside peoples bodies when they smoke a cigarette and we were shocked! Michelle who leads our tobacco education sessions said we were research masters and that she had never seen such quality research from a primary 7 class before! We are looking forward to our next session with Michelle, next Thursday.

P7 Sports Festival

Primary 7 enjoyed an outing to Craigswood sports centre on Thursday to take part in a sports festival. There were track and field events and everyone participated in at least 2 of these. Bellsquarry was very successful and came first in serveral events. Everyone tried hard and supported each other. It was an enjoyable and exhausting experience.

Here are our JRSOs at their induction meeting today. They attended with lots of other JRSOs from around West Lothian schools … watch out for their first competition!

Primary 7

Primary 7 have had a great day supporting the STV Children’s Appeal. We have future Great British Bake Off contestants in our class. Here we are with our cake entries, looking proud of our baking achievements.

We were delighted to have Sean Batty and Euan Buckley in school today to judge all the entries. Great excitement all around.
