The staff at Bellsquarry would like to wish the pupils and their families a fantastic summer holiday. Thank you for your continued support of our school and we hope that you relax and have lots of fun. See you in August!
On Friday the children paid wonderful tribute to our departing members of staff. Mrs Millar is retiring at the end of term while Mrs Robinson and Mrs Baxter are moving on to other schools to pursue new challenges. We will miss them all but hopefully we made their last assembly a memorable one.
The ladies were entered into a number of challenges and all competed with energy and enthusiasm: cake decorating, suitcase packing, holiday fashion styling, first aid and a geography quiz all challenged their intelligence and ingenuity and gave the children plenty to laugh about. Many children also paid tribute to the teachers by performing some of their favourite songs, dance routines and poems and each class had made beautiful cards for the staff.
The staff will all be greatly missed and we all want to wish them well for the future.
For an end of term treat Amy and the after-school dance clubs put on a show for their parents. They were fantastic, with groovy moves and had great fun bopping away. Everyone in the audience thought they were super!
Amy will be back after the holidays to pick up where she has left off with the boys and girls, so watch this space!
Our cake competition design winner was Callum in Primary 2. His wonderful design featured a range of elements and we are sure you will agree that it was a fantastic effort.
Callum, plus the winning designer from each class, took home a delicious box of cupcakes on Friday. Ellen in Primary 6 won the raffle for the cake with Callum’s design on it and will (perhaps) enjoy sharing it with her brother.
The cakes were donated by Jennifer Logan, of Stella Pumpkin cake design, one of our mums who came in to tell the children all about her job during World of Work Week, so we would all like to thank her for her contribution which has helped raise money for the school funds. When we have counted all the money we will update you with a final total.

We had great fun performing our Minibeast assembly for pupils and parents. We sang enthusiastically and
learned our parts well. We also enjoyed wearing our minibeast headbands!
On Wednesday we had a super visit to Butterfly World and Vogrie Country Park. Kevin our guide told us lots of interesting facts about different minibeasts. We were allowed to hold a giant millipede, a snake and Charlotte the tarantula. We also saw leaf cutter ants and lots of beautiful butterflies.
Last week we released our eight Painted Lady butterflies in our school garden. Over the last few weeks we have watched them grow from tiny caterpillars, change into chrysalids and hatch out as butterflies.
Please click on the attached link below to find out details about our Leavers’ Assembly. We look forward to seeing everyone!
The Strawberry Fayre was very well attended and we were delighted with all the donations we received, thank you so much! We made £212.33, which we were very pleased with.
We have a lot of things going on over the next few days,
Sports day is tomorrow and hopefully it will be fine, the sports day will take place through the gate, as last year.
The morning nursery sports is at 10.30am and we will meet you outside with the children, the afternoon nursery sports is at 2.30pm.
The Graduation is on Friday, for both sets of children at 11.00am , we have 19 children going to school this year.
The Teddy Bear’s Picnic is on Monday 27th June starting off at 9.30am and 12.30pm as soon as we can. Children should come with a parent/carer. Hopefully the weather will be lovely. We plan to walk to the new orchard and have our picnic there, then we will go to the play park and let the children have some fun. If it rains we will have access to the village hall.
Last day of nursery is Wednesday, normal times.
Some Primary 3s have been learning about co-ordinates with Mrs Green. We drew our own battleships boards and played class battleships describing the squares using letters and numbers. Even the teachers who popped in to our classroom during maths joined in!
We also played a game of cops and robbers. You can find the game here:
