Glendevon Residential – Aviemore 2015

On the last week of term, we went on our residential trip to Aviemore.
We went on the Funicular railway up the Cairn Gorm Mountains and had our lunch at the top. We all enjoyed looking out over the snowy mountain on the way up & down. We then went swimming and to the beach where we enjoyed paddling in the water.

We spent a day at Landmark Forest Adventure Park. Everyone loved going through the bamboozeleum and playing at the park. John, Ross and Ryan had a turn on a children’s rollercoaster with Tanya, and everyone enjoyed going through the treetop maze. Before we went home we went on the steam railway & had our snack.

Here are some photos of our week

Duke of Edinburgh Award

I am delighted to share the exciting news that John, Kyle, Gavin and Ross from Glendevon have all achieved their bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award. In order to achieve the award, they volunteered at Almondell country park doing conservation work, attended a gym weekly for their physical section and produced amazing wood crafts for their skills. They did a lot of training throughout the year in order to complete their expedition. For this they walked along the Union Canal from Falkirk Wheel to Linlithgow and camped overnight at Muiravonside Country Park. Parents and families attended an award ceremony with the boys at Beatlie on Tuesday 14th October.

I’d like to thank the Glendevon staff for helping to make this possible as it took a lot of hard work and commitment from them as well as from the four boys. They are now embarking on the silver award so watch this space!
