News from Pentland

We have had such a busy term and we can’t believe the Christmas holidays are almost here.

Our topic this term was Emergency Services, we had lots of fun dressing up as doctors and we had lots of emergencies to attend to! We also enjoyed being police officers and making up our ‘wanted’ posters for all our crimes! We still have lots to do for our topic so will be continuing this after the holidays before moving onto our next topic which is ‘Spring’. Alongside our topic we have been busy with lots of other activities. We have regular opportunities for messy play and sensory art, this gives us the chance to experience lots of different materials and textures and encourages us to use all our senses to explore them. We have enjoyed painting with herbal tea bags, painting on bubble wrap and foil and using frozen paint as well as enjoying using flour, lentils, pasta and water. We especially enjoyed our Halloween messy play where we took apart a pumpkin, it got very messy!! We also had a busy time preparing for Children in Need this term, we went shopping to buy the ingredients we needed to make our Pudsey Plum Pies and did a fantastic job rolling, chopping and mixing. We were lucky enough to have a visit from two beautiful therapy ponies recently and we enjoyed patting them and walking them around the hall, we think they’d make great Beatlie pets! Our most recent excitement was preparing for our Christmas Carnival where we joined Lomond’s marching band, all that’s left is for us to get our party hats on for our party on Wednesday and wish everyone a lovely Christmas and New Year!!
