We have been given the task of helping to make the sensory garden more interesting, fun and eco-friendly. A tall order!
So far we have looked into ways of collecting water for the garden in order to avoid using the hose-pipe. We experimented with lots of containers and ideas for raincatchers and had fun testing them to ensure they were water tight by holding them above staff heads. You will guess correctly that some did leak. We now have a collection ready for spring and they will be placed directly above hanging baskets and plant containers where possible.
We also have a supply of plant pots made from old plastic bottles which we have ready and waiting for planting up in spring. We will be trying out lots of ways to make seed pots from old bottles, food containers and anything we can recycle to help us in the garden.
We have enjoyed playing hide and seek but found very few places to hide so we bought tarpaulins to rig up as temporary dens . Our den building skills need a lot of improvement but hopefully planting our willow screens will do a lot of the work for us.
