The Mathematics Department is made up of the following staff:<\/big><\/p>\n

Mr K Drummond (Principal Teacher (Curriculum) – Mathematics & Technologies)<\/h3>\n

\"\"Hi there! Welcome to the Mathematics Department of Armadale Academy. I am the Principal Teacher for Mathematics (as well as Computing) and it is my responsibility to make sure that every pupil who walks into our department gets the very best experience and their needs are met.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I became a teacher to make a difference to the next generation of young people. And now it is my job to work with the teachers in the department to drive forward improvement in our department and school.\u00a0<\/p>\n

I am sure I will get the opportunity to meet much of our school community in the coming year but, in the meantime, have a look around, take in the information that is available. We will continue to improve this new site and we would be really interested in receiving your feedback and suggesting improvements to our site.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Engage everyone\u2019s interest from the start – Carry out Mathematical challenges and extend – Invite learners to make decisions about how to tackle the activity and what mathematics to use – Involve learners in speculating, hypothesis making and testing, proving or explaining, reflecting, interpreting – Take part in discussion and communication – Encourages originality and invention – May contain an element of surprise – Will be enjoyable – Learners to develop new mathematical understandings e.g Use and design games, Mathematics outside the classroom, Uses of mathematics in society (school trips), Newspaper and media articles or advertisements, Digital learning, Linking mathematics with other areas of the curriculum.
