Holiday Reading

Make brain smarter and life better…make sure you have plenty to READ this holiday. 

There are many brilliant books in the school library which you can take home and read. Come and see us at break and lunch.

We have signed up to shadow the Carnegie Awards shortlist and you can borrow the eBooks and audio books at Sora – Where Students Read – Sign in. Ask Mrs Lumsden for your log-in and access some fantastic free books.

You can also borrow books from West Lothian Libraries, including free eBooks and audio books through Borrowbox West Lothian Council – BorrowBox

Did you love looking through the books at the Scholastic Book Fairs in Primary School? Now you can relive that joy with our new online Scholastic Book Club. Browse the latest offers and order online. For every £1 you spend on this month’s Book Club, our school will earn 20p in Scholastic Rewards.

World Book Day Books

World Book Day takes place on Thursday, 5 March 2026 and we shall be celebrating books and reading in Armadale Academy! As well as the many events taking place in school, we also wanted to share our love of reading with the community. We were therefore delighted to be chosen to be a community hub for World Book Day, allowing us to distribute the books and share the joy of reading with our wider community.

Our World Book Day hub will be available in Armadale Academy on 2, 3 and 4 March 2026 from 3.30pm to 4.30pm. With support from World Book Day, the National Year of Reading, and World of Books, we will be offering children of all ages the opportunity to exchange their World Book Day book token for the £1 book of their choice for free. (Tokens will also be available, so everyone will have access to the books.)

On Thursday 5 March, you can join us for the “Book and Blether” café, in the school from 4.30pm to 6pm. Everyone is welcome to come along.

We will also be based in the Armadale Partnership Centre from 10am to 1pm on Saturday, 7 March so you can come along and pick up a book then.

Armadale Academy is very much looking forward to sharing our love of reading and we hope you can join us at any of our hub events.
