Infant Sports Day

Yesterday the sun put it’s hat on for our Sports Day at Uphall. The children took part in events such as hurdles, sprints, relay racing and netball shoots. Here are Primary 3 ready to go to their Sports Day, flying the flags of their team countries.

Show and Tell…finally!

Yesterday, Charlotte finally found time to show the class her lovely collection of precious stones. Charlotte has been very patient and has waited until P3 have had time to be a quality audience for her. We learned that each stone has a meaning and Charlotte passed round her Amethyst stone for the children to look at and feel. Thank you Charlotte!

Olympic Football Tournament

Last Wednesday P3 and the P3s from P2/3 took part in a football tournament at Albyn Park in Broxburn. They had been training for this tournament for weeks and showed off their football skills to children from other schools in the area and to the proud parents who turned up to watch the event. We had a lovely sunny day and much fun was had by all!

The Olympic torch comes to Broxburn!

In preparation for the Olympic torch coming through Broxburn, P3 have started to make their own torches to use on Wednesday. Today we started to paint them with gold paint and tomorrow we will add our flames (using tissue paper and coloured foil). We can’t wait to write about what we see on Wednesday!

Jubilations

P3 enjoyed celebrating the Queen’s Jubilee this afternoon by wearing red, white and blue, eating treats, playing in the sun and playing games in the classroom. We played pass the parcel, pin the crown on the Queen, musical statues and even had a dance competition. We even decorated our own Jubilee plates.

The Queen’s Jubilee

On Monday 4th June P3 are having a small party in the afternoon to celebrate the Queen’s Jubilee. The children can wear red, white and blue or school uniform (no football colours please). We will have some party snacks, juice and play games. The children thought we could play musical thrones, pin the crown on the Queen and pass the royal parcel. If the weather is nice we will hold our party outdoors so sun cream, water and a hat might be a good idea.

Is it good?

Using a thesaurus from your library or the thesaurus tool on your computer, how many words can you find to use instead of using the word ‘good’ all the time? Remember, the words have to mean the same as ‘good’. Hint – open a Word document on your computer and type the word ‘good’. Click on ‘review’ in the top toolbar then click on thesaurus. Happy researching P3!
