ECO Poster Competition

At their recent assembly on Litter, the Eco Committee launched a competition. They would like pupils to design a Litter Awareness Poster – on any theme of interest to them (could be based on the ideas given by the committee at the assembly). The committee will choose a winner from each class and these posters will be laminated and displayed around the school grounds. The winners will also receive a reusable bag/bag for life. GOOD LUCK ALL THOSE WHO ENTER!

Earth Hour Dress Brightly Day – March 28th

On Friday 28th March in Torphichen Primary we will be celebrating Earth Hour by having a dress-brightly day, where pupils can pay £1 to come to school wearing brightly coloured or sparkly clothes. The Eco Committee are hoping to use the money raised to organise the adoption of a wild animal through the WWF (World Wildlife Fund).
We will also be switching off as many electrical items in school on the same day, between 11a.m and 12midday. This is to recognise the worldwide event organised by the WWF, which officially takes place on Saturday 29th March between 8.30pm and 9.30pm. We hope you will take part in this event. If you take part at home, please take photographs of what you did and we can display these on the Eco board in school. Either bring in a printed photo or email them into school and we can print them for you here.

Thank you.

Third Eco flag achieved!!

A huge congratulations to all pupils and staff for helping achieve the third Eco flag for Torphichen Primary School today! The assessor was blown away by the articulate and passionate way the Eco Committee described their work and was so impressed, he could not think of any recommendations! We can now look forward to receiving and flying a well-deserved new Green flag.
