P3/4 have been busy creating their own rockets. We worked as part of a group to create our own logo and design our rocket. We decided on the materials that we thought would work well. We evaluated our designs and adapted them as we needed to during the design stage. The rockets are displayed in our class and we will present them to the other groups.
We added a snowstorm during the last art lesson to make our woodland settings. Pupils were more independent as they mixed the ingredients to make and add the snow.
Pupils added ‘mud’ to their woodland setting to match with the story ‘We’re going on a bear hunt’. They mixed glue, paints, flour and water. When pupils mixed the ingredients too smooth, they engaged in problem solving, working out how to keep th lumps in.
Primary 2 pupils have been learning about number patterns. They were exploring number names looking closely at 17 and 70, 15 and fifty etc. They learned how to count on with bigger numbers and use the term ‘difference between’. So the difference between 45 and 47 is 2.
We have been learning about WW2 and about Anne Frank. We have created a time line about the key things that happened in world war 2. We were looking at posters that were made in WW2. we looked at some letters that where sent to Torphichen, addressed to Mr. l. Hendrie. Who was an Air Raid Warden. In math’s we have been looking at decimals and time. We investigated rationing and old money by trying to buy food for a family of 4 for the week.
