Euro Quiz 2013 Report

On 12th March Heather, Adam, Ciaran and Megan went to Howden Park Centre to go to a quiz about Europe.

This quiz tested our knowledge on Europe and we needed to get as many questions right and if we won we would go to the Scottish Parliament to represent West Lothian.

When we found out we were going to the Euro Quiz we knew we had to study hard so we could be successful  We were given websites and booklets about the European Union, cultures, history etc and we studies with Mrs Johnston every morning.  We did not know what the questions were going to be but luckily Mrs Johnston’s dad was the quiz master so we could have a vague idea about what the questions were going to be.  We were studying so hard we could not wait until the day because we wanted to do well and hopefully win.

When we went to the Euro Quiz, we got a taxi with Mrs Johnston.  We were feeling really anxious and we wanted to win really bad!  To push our nerves even further Mrs Johnston told us that we had a chance to go to the Scottish Parliament and then if we won there we would go to London to represent Scotland.

We did not know what the questions were going to be so we were testing each other in the taxi on the ay there.  When we eventually got there we walked into the hall and got ready.

When we got there we were excited but nervous.  We met the quiz master and then we got started with the questions.  Some were tough but some were easy.  After 2 rounds we had a break and we got fruit, juice and yoghurts.  We were 6 points away from the 2nd tie breaker team.

So now you know what happened at the Euro Quiz, remember what I said about testing your knowledge?  Here’s a few questions we were asked:

Who is this man? (Pablo Picasso)

When was the Berlin Wall taken down? (1989)

How many commissioners are in the EU? a) 45 b) 15 c) 27

Which country joined the EU n 1973? a) Portugal b) UK c) Spain
